We Affirm that All Black Lives Matter
Black Lives Matter is an ideological and political intervention in a world where Black lives are systematically and intentionally targeted for demise. It is an affirmation of the contributions of African Americans to this society, our humanity, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.
PLATFORM ISSUES

MINIMUM WAGE
We support Fight for raising the national minimum wage to $15. Today’s low-wage workers earn less per hour than their counterparts did 50 years ago. Raising the minimum wage to $15 will be particularly significant for workers of color--Two-fifths (40 percent) of Africans Americans and one-third (34 percent) of Latinos would get a raise if the federal minimum wage were increased to $15. Contact representatives and ask them to support raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour. Contact Florida legislators to support raising the minimum wage in Florida and at a national level!
Unequal Sentences for Blacks and Whites
Decades of research have shown that the criminal courts
sentence black defendants more harshly than whites in Florida
an around the country. . An investigation in Florida by
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune exposes the fact that
African-American defendants get more time behind bars —
sometimes twice the prison terms of whites with identical
criminal histories — when they commit the same crimes under
identical circumstances.
Contact your legislators and ask them to require judges to adhere to the point system in sentencing for ALL defendants.
